When a business grows from one location to several, local search usually does not grow with it. The original location keeps its reviews and rankings, and the newer ones sit nearly invisible on Google Maps. Customers searching near those locations find a competitor instead.
Why every location needs its own plan
Google ranks local results by relevance, distance and prominence for each location separately. Strong rankings in one city do almost nothing for a location 20 miles away. Each one has to earn its own visibility.
The foundation for every location
- A claimed, verified Google Business Profile with the correct name, address and phone number
- Accurate categories, services, hours and holiday hours
- Real photos of that specific location
- A dedicated location page on your website, linked from the profile
- Consistent listings on the major directories
Location pages that actually rank
The fastest way to fail is to copy one page and swap the city name. Strong location pages include:
- What makes this location different: team, parking, nearby landmarks, specialties
- Reviews from customers at that location
- Directions and the neighborhoods it serves
- Answers to questions local customers really ask
Reviews, location by location
A location with 300 reviews will usually outrank one with 12, all else being equal. Build review requests into the customer experience at every location, and reply to all of them.
Track each location separately. One combined report hides the locations that are struggling, and those are usually where the fastest growth is hiding.
How we approach it
For multi-location clients we audit every profile, clean up duplicate listings, build a real page for each location and report on each one individually every month. The goal is simple: whichever location is closest, that is the one people find.
